Dr. George Peters is a retina specialist in Bangor and a board-certified ophthalmologist. Born and raised in Eastern Maine, Dr. Peters graduated with high honors from Boston University’s Biomedical Engineering program before earning a graduate degree in Maine.
Dr. Peters went on to medical school in Vermont, completed his internship in Maine, and finished his ophthalmology residency in New York, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed three subspecialty fellowships, including ocular immunology and uveitis at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Edinburgh.
Dr. Peters has held faculty positions at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and multiple medical schools in Massachusetts and New York. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of every discipline’s honor society in which he has a degree. When he isn’t practicing, Dr. Peters enjoys adventure travel and has been to all seven continents.

Publications & Speaking
Dr. Peters has published in all three major American ophthalmology journals, the British Journal of Ophthalmology, and Retina. His research focuses on intravitreal drug administration, new therapies for uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
He has attended, presented, moderated, and served as an invited panelist at meetings across North America, South America, Asia, and Europe.
