Dr. Oscar Batlle is a vitreoretinal surgeon in Bangor with a deep family tradition in eye care. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, he is a third-generation ophthalmologist.
Dr. Batlle attended Tulane University in New Orleans, where he completed his pre-medicine and Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Economics. He was admitted early into Tulane University School of Medicine and later inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the highest medical honors society. While at Tulane, he founded the local chapter of Unite for Sight, a national nonprofit that provides free vision screenings and glasses to low-income individuals.
Dr. Batlle joined the Vision Care of Maine team in July 2014. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His wife, Brie, is a practicing anesthesiologist at a local hospital. They have two daughters and enjoy spending time with extended family at their camp on Green Lake.
