Dr. Curt Tyler Young was raised in Presque Isle, Maine. He attended Syracuse University where he achieved his Bachelors of Science in Nursing. He gained experience as an ambulatory surgery nurse in Ophthalmology as well as an Adult and Pediatric Psychiatry Nurse. He continued at Syracuse University to earn his Masters degree in Nursing and was the youngest male to graduate from Syracuse University as a licensed Nurse Practitioner. He worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Medicine before answering his calling to train as a physician.
He graduated from St. Christopher's College of Medicine in Cambridge, England in 2002. During his training he gained experience in Ophthalmology doing elective rotations at Tulane University, and Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
His residency training was at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana where he successfully completed his Internship in Internal Medicine gaining experience at LSU Hospital, and the Veterans Administration hospital in Shreveport.
After that he returned to New Orleans to help rebuild Tulane's Ophthalmology program that was still hoppled by Katrina. After finishing his residency training he accepted a Retina Fellowship position at Tulane University training with the world renowned James Diamond MD.
Curt has returned to Maine as the Chief of Retina Surgery with his father Dr. Craig W. Young at Vision Care of Maine where the father and son team sees patients and provides surgical care to Central and Northern Maine. Curt and his wife Kim and their new baby Brennan reside in Bangor.
